The “Battle of the Bands” hosted by Bar 145 is meant to find outstanding musicians looking for the opportunity to book live shows at several venues across the state of Ohio to help our customers rock out like they were meant to with live music! Each applicant will be carefully considered and 18 bands will be selected for each location to have the opportunity to compete for the Grand Prize!! The competition will take place at Bar 145-Kent and Bar 145-Toledo every Sunday starting on April 7 th and each location will crown a victorious band on June 2nd which includes two bookings at the respective Bar 145 location! The winning band at each location will face-off at Put-in-Bay, Ohio on the stage of Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grill for the final battle on June 9th for the chance to be the Grand Prize Winner including a guaranteed total of four paid shows: one at Bar 145 Kent & Toledo and a weekend performance at Mr. Ed’s Put-in-Bay!!!
 
THE SELECTION
 
A selection process will be required to choose the 18 bands for each location
by a panel of judges and no correspondence will be entered into.
 
Criteria Used:
 
• Unsigned
• Must be a Cover Band including but not limited to 80s, 90s, and Top 40 hits that fit the live music style of Bar 145
• Must not be a band that has played at any Bar 145 location or Put-in-Bay Bar within the previous 12 months
• Evaluation of Demo CD & Band Bio
• Overall commercial viability
 
 
 
THE COMPETITION
 
The judging for all rounds of the competition will be done by a panel of four judges using the following
criteria: song selection, stage presence, crowd participation, crowd votes (based on number of “fans”
attending the show) and overall musicianship. All bands will be given an information packet two weeks prior to the show fully explaining the judgment criteria.
 
Round 1: Upon selection, bands will be given a performance date for the first round of competition
for one of the following dates: 4/7, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12
 
Round 2: The winner of each first round battle will compete on May 19th or May 26th against the
other winners based on a random drawing (45 minute performance) and the top band for each semi-
final night will advance to the final.
 
Round 3: The location finale will take place on Sunday, June 2nd with a 75 minute performance by
each finalist. The winner of the battle will receive a professional photo shoot, featured on a Bar 145
advertisement and be guaranteed two paid bookings at the location of the competition.
 
BATTLE AT THE BAY: The winner of each location will face-off at Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grill
on Sunday, June 9th to battle for the Grand Prize of bookings at both Bar 145 locations
(Kent & Toledo), a weekend show at Put-in-Bay, $1000 Cash and the chance of a yearly
contract with all venues. Both bands will be provided hotel rooms for the night of the
competition on the island!

• Non-refundable application fee of $25 (Checks made to JGC Block L.L.C)
****If chosen, each band will be required to pay an additional $25 registration fee
